Teach your kids Computer Programming

We already see how technology has taken over our world. Limiting kids 'screen time' is important for their physical, mental. social emotional and academic development. That said what will they do during their screen time? Lets expose them to computer programming through Scratch!

Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web.
As young people create and share Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.

All you have to do is download the FREE program and get to work. Your children will need help but it sure will be fun!

Enjoy!

daily math drills

As a teacher I know that having a solid foundation in the basics math facts is essential.  I agree that the process is more important than getting the product (or answer) but at times children are not able to access more critical thinking or focus on the process because their knowledge of the basics prevents them.  So here is an amazing way to practice and perfect in just 5 minutes  a day.

XtraMath is a free web program that teaches addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts which are critical to success in mathematics. Look into xtramath.org.
